Shirdi Sai Baba Chalisa Lyrics in English with Meaning
Pehle Sai Ke Charano Mein,
Apna Sheesh Namaaun Main,
Kaise Shirdi Sai Aaye,
Saara Haal Sunaun Main.
(At the outset, in Shirdi Sai Baba’s feet,
I bow my head in reverence,
How Sai Baba came to Shirdi,
I describe the story of his arrival.)
Kaun Hai Mata, Pita Kaun Hai,
Ye Na Kisi Ne Bhi Jaana,
Kaha Janam Sai Ne Dhaara,
Prashna Paheli Raha Baana.
(Who is his mother? Who is his father?
Nobody has knowledge of these facts,
Where was Sai Baba born?
It has remained a question and a mystery.)
Koi Kahe Ayodhya Ke,
Ye Ramchandra Bhagvan Hain,
Koi Kehta Sai Baba,
Pavan Putra Hanuman Hain.
(Some say that Sai Baba came from Ayodhya,
And identify him as an incarnation of Lord Rama,
Some say that Sai Baba,
Is Hanuman – the son of Pavan (Wind God).)
Koi Kehta Mangal Murti,
Shri Gajanan Hain Sai,
Koi Kehta Gokul-Mohan,
Devki Nandan Hain Sai.
(Some say that he is Mangal Murti,
An incarnation of Lord Ganesha,
Some day that he is Gokul-Mohan i.e. Lord Krishna,
The son of Devki.)

Shankar Samaj Bhakta Kayee To,
Baba Ko Bhajhte Rahte,
Koi Kahe Avatar Datta Ka,
Pooja Sai Ki Karte.
(Numerous devotees identify Sai Baba as a form of Lord Shiva,
And keep worshipping him,
While some others say that Sai is the avatar of Dattatreya (one of the Hindu Gods of Yoga),
And pray to him accordingly.)
Kuch Bhi Maano Unko Tum,
Par Sai Hain Sachche Bhagvan,
Bade Dayaalu Deen-Bandhu,
Kitno Ko Diya Jivan-Daan.
(Whatever you believe him to be,
Sai Baba is a true God,
He is very kind and a friend of the downtrodden,
And has given the blessing of life to so many.)
Kayee Baras Pehle Ki Ghatna,
Tumhe Sunaunga Main Baat,
Kisee Bhagyashaali Ki,
Shirdi Main Aayee Thi Baraat.
(There is an incident from many years ago,
I will describe its details to you,
Someone who was extremely lucky and blessed,
Has his marriage procession passing through Shirdi.)
Aaya Saath Usi Ke Tha,
Baalak Aik Bohot Sundar,
Aaya Aakar Vahin Bas Gaya,
Paavan Shirdi Kiya Nagar.
(As a part of that procession had arrived in Shirdi,
A young boy who was extremely handsome,
Once in Shirdi, he settled there itself,
And made it a holy and blessed place.)
Kayee Dino Tak Raha Bhatakta,
Bhiksha Maangi Usne Dar Dar,
Aur Dikhai Aisi Leela,
Jag Main Jo Ho Gayee Amar.
(He kept wandering for many days,
Asking for donations door-by-door,
And he displayed such amazing glory and miracles,
Which became storied and eternal across the world.)
Jaise-Jaise Umar Badhi,
Badti Hee Vaise, Gaee Shaan,
Ghar Ghar Hone Laga Nagar Main,
Sai Baba Ka Gungaan.
(As the young boy grew up over time,
His fame and popularity kept growing,
And every house in the city of Shirdi,
Started to chant the name of Sai Baba.)
Dig Digant Main Laga Goonjane,
Phir To Saiji Ka Naam,
Deen-Dukhi Ki Raksha Karna,
Yahi Raha Baba Ka Kaam.
(All corners of the universe reverberated with the echo,
Of Sai Baba’s name,
Protecting the downtrodden and the ones in pain,
Is Sai Baba’s primary life work.)
Baba Ke Charno Main Ja Kar,
Jo Kehta Main Hoo Nirdhan,
Daya Usee Par Hoti Unke,
Khul Jaate Dukh Ke Bandhan.
(When someone goes into the refuge of Sai Baba’s feet,
And says that he is impoverished,
Is showered by the kindness of Sai Baba,
And he is relieved of the shackles of pain and sadness.)
Kabhi Kisi Ne Maangi Bhiksha,
Do Baba Mujhko Suntaan,
Avum Astoo Tava Kehkar Sai,
Dete The Usko Vardaan.
(At another time, someone asked for a blessing,
Requesting Sai Baba to bless her with a child,
Saying “Avum Astoo”, Sai Baba
Bless her with a boon.)
Swayam Dukhi Baba Ho Jaate,
Deen-Dukhijan Ka Lakh Haal,
Antaha Karan Shri Sai Ka,
Sagar Jaisa Raha Vishal.
(Sai Baba is overcome with grief,
When he sees the condition of the downtrodden and the poor,
Shri Sai Baba’s soul,
Is large and infinite like the ocean.)
Bhakt Ek Madraasi Aaya,
Ghar Ka Bohot Bada Dhanvaan,
Maal Khazana Behadh Uskaa,
Keval Nahi Rahi Suntaan.
(A South Indian bhakt visited Sai Baba once,
While he was very wealthy and prosperous,
And owned many treasures and riches,
The one thing he lacked and craved for was a progeny.)
Laga Manane Sainath Ko,
Baba Mujh Par Daya Karo,
Jhanjha Se Jhankrit Naiyya Ko,
Tum Hee Meri Paar Karo.
(He tried to convince Sai Baba,
Please show me kindness oh Baba – he begged,
The boat of my life is caught in troubled and turbulent waters,
Please come to my rescue and help me reach the shore.)
Kuldeepak Ke Bina Andhera,
Chhaya Hua Ghar Mein Mere,
Isee Liye Aaya Hoon Baba,
Hokar Sharnagat Tere.
(Without a heir there is darkness,
Spread all over my home,
This is the reason why I have come to you oh Baba,
To offer myself to your feet.)
Kuldeepak Ke Re Abhav Main,
Vyartha Hai Daulat Ki Maya,
Aaj Bhikhari Ban Kar Baba,
Sharan Tumhari Main Aaya,
(In the absence of a progeny,
Wealth does not serve any purpose,
Oh Baba, despite my wealth today I come to you as a beggar,
To seek your refuge and help.)
De Do Mujhko Putra-Daan,
Main Runi Rahoonga Jivan Bhar,
Aur Kisi Ki Aas Na Mujhko,
Sirf Bharosa Hai Tum Par.
(Please bless me with a child,
I will be grateful to you for my entire life,
I do not have faith in anyone else,
And I only trust you to help me.)
Anunaye-Vinaye Bahut Ki Usne,
Charano Main Dhar Ke Sheesh,
Tab Prasann Hokar Baba Ne,
Diya Bhakta Ko Yah Aashish.
(He prayed and begged a lot,
With his head bowed to Sai Baba’s feet,
Sai Baba was satisfied by the devotee’s humility and submission,
And gave the devotee this blessing.)
‘Allah Bhala Karega Tera,
Putra Janma Ho Tere Ghar,
Kripa Rahegi Tujh Par Uski,
Aur Tere Uss Balak Par.
(Allah will do good to you,
A child will be born in your home,
Allah’s kindness will forever be with you,
And with the child that is born to you.)
Ab Tak Nahi Kisi Ne Paya,
Sai Ki Kripa Ka Paar,
Putra Ratna De Madrasi Ko,
Dhanya Kiya Uska Sansaar.
(Tilll date no one has found,
Anything that exceeds the kindness of Sai Baba,
With the gift of a progeny to his South Indian devotee,
Sai Baba gave a huge boon to his life and existence.)
Tan-Man Se Jo Bhaje Usi Ka,
Jag Main Hota Hai Uddhar,
Saanch Ko Aanch Nahi Hai Koi,
Sada Jhooth Ki Hoti Haar.
(Whoever chants Sai’s name with their entire mind and body,
Experiences all the benefits in this world,
The truth is not faced with threats of any kind,
And it is lies and treachery that always get defeated.)
Main Hoon Sada Sahare Uske,
Sada Rahoonga Uska Daas,
Sai Jaisa Prabhu Mila Hai,
Itni Hi Kum Hai Kya Aas.
(I forever live by the support of him,
And will always remain his devoted servant,
I have found a God like Sai Baba,
That itself is a huge source or hope.)
Mera Bhi Din Tha Ek Aisa,
Milti Nahi Mujhe Roti,
Tan Par Kapda Duur Raha Tha,
Shaysh Rahi Nanhi Si Langoti,
(Even I had a phase like this once,
When I could not even find food to eat,
I had no clothes to cover my body with,
And my only possession was a small langoti/dhoti.)
Sarita Sammukh Hone Par Bhi,
Main Pyasa Ka Pyasa Tha,
Durdin Mera Mere Ooper,
Daavaagnee Barsata Tha.
(The river was right before me,
And yet I remained thirsty,
My unfortunate days and phases used to throw upon me,
Showers of fire and flames.)
Dharti Ke Atirikt Jagat Main,
Mera Kuch Avalambh Na Tha,
Bana Bhikhari Main Duniya Main,
Dar Dar Thokar Khata Tha.
(In the entire universe, there was nothing except the land/earth,
Which I could seek refuge and protection from,
I became a beggar in this world,
And used to experience injuries and hurt at every corner.)
Aise Main Ik Mitra Mila Jo,
Param Bhakt Sai Ka Tha,
Janjalon Se Mukt Magar,
Jagti Main Vah Bhi Mujh Sa Tha.
(In such circumstances, I met a friend who,
Was a devoted follower of Sai Baba,
He was free of troubles in his life,
But in his circumstances he was just like me.)
Baba Ke Darshan Ke Khatir,
Mil Dono Ne Kiya Vichaar,
Sai Jaise Daya Murti Ke,
Darshan Ko Ho Gaiye Taiyar.
(For the sake of seeking Sai Baba’s darshan,
The two of us thought and planned together,
Sai Baba is an icon of kindness,
And we were now ready for his darshan.)
Paavan Shirdi Nagari Main Ja Kar,
Dekh Matvaali Moorti,
Dhanya Janm Ho Gaya Ki Humne,
Jab Dhekhi Sai Ki Soorti.
(We travelled to the holy and blessed city of Shirdi,
And saw the glorious image/idol of Sai Baba,
Our lives became blessed,
The moment we saw his form.)
Jabse Kiye Hai Darshan Humne,
Dukh Sara Kaphur Ho Gaya,
Sankat Saare Mite Aur,
Vipdaon Ka Ant Ho Gaya.
(From the moment that we had the darshan of Sai Baba,
All our pains and sadness have evaporated,
All troubles have been erased and,
Calamities have come to an end.)
Maan Aur Sammaan Mila,
Bhiksha Main Humko Baba Se,
Prati Bambit Ho Uthe Jagat Main,
Hum Sai Ki Abha Se.
(We have received respect and honour,
In donation from Sai Baba,
We were filled with awe in this world,
With the impressive uniqueness of Sai Baba.)
Baba Ne Sanmaan Diya Hai,
Maan Diya Is Jivan Main,
Iska Hee Sambal Le Main,
Hasta Jaunga Jivan Main.
(Baba has blessed us with honor,
And respect in this lifetime,
And taking the support and refuge of this,
I will keep smiling throughout my life.)
Sai Ki Leela Ka Mere,
Man Par Aisa Asar Huaa,
Lagta, Jagti Ke Kan-Kan Main,
Jaise Ho Vah Bhara Huaa.
(Sai’s divinity has had,
Such an influence on my mind,
I feel as if every inch of space in the universe,
Is filled with him and his power.)
‘Kashiram’ Baba Ka Bhakt,
Iss Shirdi Main Rehta Tha,
Mai Sai Ka Sai Mera,
Veh Duniya Se Kehta Tha.
(Kashiram was a devotee of Sai Baba,
And used to live in Shirdi,
I belong to Sai and Sai belongs to me,
He used to say to the world.)
Seekar Svayam Vastra Bechta,
Gram Nagar Bazaron Main,
Jhankrit Uski Hriday Tantri Thi,
Sai Ki Jhankaron Se.
(He used to stitch and sell clothes by himself,
In the village, city and in markets,
His heartbeats were filled with the echo of,
Sai Baba’s musical voice.)
Stabdh Nisha Thi, The Soye,
Rajni Aanchal Mein Chand Sitaare,
Nahi Soojhta Raha Hath Ka,
Hath Timir Ke Maare.
(It was a dark night and deep in sleep,
Were the moon and stars in the night’s cradle,
His one hand was unable to find,
The other hand because of the pitch black darkness.)
Vastra Bech Kar Laut Raha Tha,
Hai! Haath Se ‘Kaashi’,
Vichitra Bada Sanyoga Ki Uss Din,
Aata Tha Ekaaki.
(After selling his clothes Kaashi was returning,
From the local market,
It is a surprising co-incidence that on that day,
He was coming back all alone.)
Gher Raah Main Khade Ho Gaye,
Usse Kutil, Anyaayi,
Maaro Kaato Looto Iski,
Hee Dhvani Pari Sunayee.
(He was stopped in his path and surrounded by,
A group of cooked and unjust people,
Beat him, cut him and rob him,
Were the only words heard around him.)
Loot Peet Kar Usse Vahan Se,
Kutil Gaye Champat Ho,
Aaghaton Se Marmaahat Ho,
Usne Di Sangya Kho.
(After robbing him and beating him there,
The group of crooked robbers escaped,
And pained by the many wounds that he sustained,
Kaashi lost his consciousness.)
Bahut Der Tak Pada Raha Vah,
Vahin Usi Halat Main,
Jaane Kab Kuch Hosh Ho Utha,
Usko Kisi Palak Main.
(He lay there for a very long time,
In the same unconscious state,
And unknowingly he regained consciously,
At a certain moment.)
Anjane Hee Uske Muh Se,
Nikal Para Tha Sai,
Jiski Prati Dhvani Shirdi Main,
Baba Ko Padi Sunai.
(He spoke without thinking consciously,
Calling out the name of Sai Baba,
And his voice echoed far away in Shirdi,
Where Sai Baba heard his call for help.)
Shubdh Utha Ho Manas Unka,
Baba Gaye Vikal Ho,
Lagta Jaise Ghatna Saari,
Ghati Unhi Ke Sanmukh Ho.
(Sai Baba’s soul was shaken to its core,
And he was suddenly unsettled,
As if the entire incident of the robbery,
Had taken place right before his eyes.)
Unmadi Se Idhar Udhar Tab,
Baba Lage Bhatakne,
Sanmukh Chizein Jo Bhi Aiee,
Unkoo Lage Patkne.
(Filled with anxiety; in different directions,
Baba started to pace around,
Whatever he spotted within his reach,
He started to throw them around in agitation.)
Aur Dhadhakte Angaro Main,
Baba Ne Apna Kar Dala,
Huye Sashankit Sabhi Vahan,
Lakh Tandav Nritya Nirala.
(And on burning coal and flames,
Baba performed –
Leaving everyone in sight in complete awe –
His rare dance of anger.)
Samajh Gaye Sab Log Ki Koi,
Bhakt Pada Sankat Mein,
Kshubit Khade The Sabhi Vahan Par,
Pade Hue Vismay Main.
(All the people observing him understood that some,
Devotee of Sai Baba somewhere was in trouble,
All of them stood there in total silence,
Paralyzed by absolute awe.)
Usse Bachane Ki Hi Khatir,
Baba Aaj Vikal Hai,
Uski Hi Pidaa Se Pidit,
Unki Antah Sthal Hai.
(It is in order to protect the troubled devotee,
That Baba himself is so perturbed today,
Pained by the pain of his devotee,
Is Sai Baba’s heart.)
Itne Me Hi Vividh Ne Apni,
Lakh Kar Jisko Janta Ki,
Shradha Sarita Lehrayi.
(It is then that destiny showed its,
And seeing that miracle the entire audience,
Was inundated by a river of devotion.)
Lekar Sanghya Heen Bhakt Ko,
Gaadi Ek Vahan Aayi,
Sanmukh Apne Dekh Bhakt Ko,
Sai Ki Aankhe Bhar Aayi.
(Bringing the unconscious devotee (Kaashi),
Came a vehicle,
Seeing his devotee before him,
Sai Baba’s eyes were filled with tears.)
Shant, Dheer, Gambhir Sindhu Sa,
Baba Ka Anthsthal,
Aaj Na Jane Kyon Reh-Rehkar,
Ho Jaata Tha Chanchal.
(The normally peaceful, courageous, thoughtful and sea-like,
Sai Baba’s soul,
Was today intermittently,
Perturbed by feelings of anxiety and emotion.)
Aaj Daya Ki Murti Swayam Tha,
Bana Hua Upchaari,
Aur Bhakt Ke Liye Aaj Tha,
Dev Bana Prati Haari.
(Today the idol of kindness (i.e. Sai Baba) himself had,
Transformed into a doctor,
And for his devotee today,
God had become a reliever of pain.)
Aaj Bhakti Ki Visham Pariksha Main,
Safal Hua Tha Kaashi,
Uske Hee Darshan Ki Khatir,
The Umde Nagar-Nivasi.
(In the tough test of his devotion,
Kaashi had succeeded,
And it was for his darshan,
That residents of the city had gathered.)
Jab Bhi Aur Jahan Bhi Koi,
Bhakta Pade Sankat Main,
Uski Raksha Karne Baba,
Jate Hai Palbhar Main.
(Whenever and wherever some,
Devotee falls into trouble,
It is to protect her that Baba,
Goes there instantly.)
Yuga Yuga Ka Hai Satya Ye,
Nahi Koi Nayee Kahani,
Aapat Grasta Bhakt Jab Hota,
Jate Khudh Antar Yaami.
(This has been true for ages,
And is not a new story,
Whenever a devotee of Baba finds herself in trouble,
Sai Baba himself goes there to rescue her.)
Bhedh Bhaav Se Pare Pujari,
Manavta Ke The Sai,
Jitne Pyare Hindu-Muslim,
Utne Hi Sikh Isai.
(Sage Sai Baba knew no discrimination,
And he belonged to humanity as a whole,
He showed as much love to Hindus and Muslims,
As he showed to Sikhs and Christians.)
Bhed Bhaav Mandir Masjid Ka,
Tod Phod Baba Ne Daala,
Ram Rahim Sabhi Unke The,
Krishna Karim Allah Taala.
(Any discrimination between a temple and a mosque,
Was destroyed by Sai Baba,
Both Ram and Rahim belonged to him,
And so did Krishna, Karim and Allah.)
Ghante Ki Pratidhvani Se Gunja,
Masjid Ka Kona Kona,
Mile Paraspar Hindu Muslim,
Pyaar Bada Din Din Doona.
(The sound of a bell echoed,
In all corners of a mosque,
And Hindus and Muslims met each other cordially,
And their love multiplied day by day.)
Chamatkar Tha Kitna Sundar,
Parichay Iss Kaya Ne Dee,
Aur Neem Kadvahat Main Bhi,
Mithaas Baba Ne Bhar Dee.
(So beautiful this magic was,
Which was introduced to the world by this form of God,
And even the bitter Neem leaves,
Were filled with sweetness by Sai Baba.)
Sabko Sneha Diya Sai Ne,
Sabko Santul Pyar Kiya,
Jo Kuch Jisne Bhi Chaha,
Baba Ne Usko Vahi Diya.
(Sai Baba gave his love to one and all,
And he loved everyone equally,
Whatever it is that one wished for,
Baba made sure that he gave it to him.)
Aise Sneha Sheel Bhaajan Ka,
Naam Sada Jo Japa Kare,
Parvat Jaisa Dukh Na Kyun Ho,
Palbhar Main Vah Door Tare.
(A saint like this who is so filled with love,
If one recites his name forever,
Even if one is faced by a mountain of sadness,
It will all disappear in an instant.)
Sai Jaisa Daata Humne,
Aare Nahi Dekha Koi,
Jiske Keval Darshan Se Hi,
Saari Vipda Door Gayi.
(A donor like Sai Baba,
Has never been seen,
And the darshan of Sai Baba alone,
Dissolves all pains and troubles.)
Tan Main Sai, Man Main Sai,
Sai Sai Bhajha Karo,
Apne Tan Ki Sudhi Budhi Khokar,
Sudhi Uski Tum Kiya Karo.
(The body and mind are filled with Sai,
Keep chanting ‘Sai Sai’,
Lose awareness of your body,
And meditate purely on Sai Baba.)
Jab Tu Apni Sudhi Taj,
Baba Ki Sudhi Kiya Karega,
Aur Raat Din Baba-Baba,
Hi Tu Rata Karega.
(When you stop thinking about yourself,
And start meditating on Sai Baba,
When day and night ‘Baba, Baba’,
Is all that you recite.)
To Baba Ko Are! Vivash Ho,
Sudhi Teri Leni Hi Hogi,
Teri Har Icha Baba Ko,
Puree Hee Karni Hogi.
(Then Baba will be compelled,
To pay attention to you,
And Baba will have to consider every wish that you have,
And fulfil each one of them.)
Jungle Jungle Bhatak Na Pagal,
Aur Dhundhne Baba Ko,
Ek Jagah Keval Shirdi Main,
Tu Payega Baba Ko.
(Stop wandering from one forest to another, oh ignorant,
In search of Sai Baba,
In only one place which is Shirdi,
Is where you will find Baba.)
Dhanya Jagat Main Prani Hai Vah,
Jisne Baba Ko Paya,
Dukh Main Sukh Main Prahar Aath Ho,
Sai Ka Hi Gun Gaya.
(Blessed is that being in this world,
Who has obtained Baba’s refuge,
Who both in happiness, sadness and through the eight phases of each day,
Sings only Sai’s name.)
Gire Sankaton Ke Parvat,
Chahe Bijli Hi Toot Pare,
Sai Ka Le Naam Sada Tum,
Sanmukh Sab Ke Raho Ade.
(The mountains of troubles will fall apart,
And even if lightning strikes,
Keep remembering the name of Sai,
And face all troubles courageously.)
Iss Budhe Ki Sunn Karamat,
Tum Ho Jao Ge Hairaan,
Dang Raha Sunkar Jisko,
Jane Kitne Chatur Sujaan.
(Listening to the story of this old man,
You will be left dumbstruck,
This story has left with shock,
Innumerous intelligent people.)
Ek Baar Shirdi Main Sadhu,
Dhongi Tha Koi Aaya,
Bholi Bhali Nagar Nivasi,
Janta Ko Tha Bharmaya.
(Once upon a time, Shirdi was visited by a Sadhu,
Who was a cheat,
The innocent residents of the city,
Were misguided by him.)
Jadi, Butiyan Unhe Dhikha Kar,
Karne Laga Vaha Bhashan,
Kehne Laga Suno Shrotaagan,
Ghar Mera Hai Vrindavan.
(He showed the residents herbs of different kinds,
And started to give a speech to them,
He said to his audience, “Listen to me,
My home is in the city of Vrindavan.”)
Aushadhi Mere Paas Ek Hai,
Aur Ajab Iss Main Shakti,
Iske Sevan Karne Se Hi,
Ho Jaati Dukh Se Mukti.
(I possess a unique medicine with me,
Which has a wondrous power,
The dosage of this medicine itself,
Relieves one of all sadness and pains.)
Agar Mukta Hona Chaho Tum,
Sankat Se Bimari Se,
To Hai Mera Numra Nivedan,
Har Nar Se Har Nari Se.
(If you want to be free from,
Troubles and Diseases,
Then this is my humble request,
Of every man and every woman here.)
Lo Kharid Tum Isko,
Iski Sevan Vidhiyan Hai Nyari,
Yadyapi Tuch Vastu Hai Yah,
Gun Uske Hai Atisheh Bhari.
(Come forward and buy this medicine,
There are many unique benefits to its dosage,
Although it looks like trivial,
It has many impressive qualities.)
Jo Hai Santaan Heen Yahan Yadi,
Meri Aushdhi Ko Khayen,
Putra Ratna Ho Prapt,
Are Vah Mooh Manga Phal Paye.
(If there is anyone here who is childless,
And if he/she has this medicine,
They will receive the gift of a child,
As well as any wish that they ask for.)
Aushadh Meri Jo Na Kharide,
Jeevan Bhar Pachtayega,
Mujh Jaisa Prani Shayad Hi,
Are Yahan Aa Payega.
(Whoever does not buy my medicine,
Will regret for the rest of his life,
It is not likely that someone like me,
Will ever visit this place again.)
Duniya Do Din Ka Mela Hai,
Mauj Shauk Tum Bhi Kar Lo,
Gar Is Se Milta Hai, Sub Kuch,
Tum Bhi Isko Le Lo.
(The world is like a fair that lasts for two days,
You should enjoy it and fulfil your desires,
This medicine helps you acquire all these things,
You should definitely purchase it.)
Hairani Badhti Janta Ki,
Lakh Iski Kaarastaani,
Pramudit Veh Bhi Man Hi Man Tha,
Lakh Logo Ki Nadani.
(His audience was completely awed by his claims,
Listening to and watching his words and actions,
Surprised and satisfied was the Sadhu as well,
Seeing how innocent and uninformed his large audience was.)
Khabar Suna Ne Baba Ko Yah,
Gaya Daud Kar Sevak Ek,
Sun Kar Bhrukuti Tani Aur,
Vismaran Ho Gaya Sabhi Vivek.
(To give this news to Sai Baba,
One of his followers went running to him,
Listening to the incident, Sai Baba raised his eyebrows,
And his sense of calm was completely destroyed.)
Hukum Diya Sevak Ko,
Satvar Pakad Dusht Ko Lao,
Ya Shirdi Ki Seema Se,
Kapati Ko Duur Bhagao.
(Sai Baba ordered his follower to,
Capture the cheat and bring him immediately,
Or from Shirdi’s borders,
Make the cheat run far away.)
Mere Rehte Bholi Bhali,
Shirdi Ki Janta Ko,
Kaun Neech Aisa Jo,
Saahas Karta Hai Chalne Ko.
(As long as I am around, the innocent,
Population of Shirdi,
Who is this lowly being that,
Has the courage to cheat them.)
Palbhar Mai Hi Aise Dhongi,
Kapti Neech Lootere Ko,
Maha Naash Ke Maha Gart Main,
Pahuncha Doon Jivan Bhar Ko.
(In an instant, a hypocrite like this,
A cheat, a lowly being, a thief like this,
I will subject him to the worst form of destruction,
For the rest of his life.)
Tanik Mila Aabhaas Madari,
Krur Kutil Anyayi Ko,
Kaal Nachta Hai Ab Sir Par,
Gussa Aaya Sai Ko.
(Introduce me to this magician,
This cruel, crooked and unjust man,
Time dances over his head now,
Sai Baba is enraged by his actions.)
Pal Bhar Main Sab Khel Bandh Kar,
Bhaga Sir Par Rakh Kar Pair,
Socha Tha Man Hi Man,
Bhagvan Nahi Hai Ab Khair.
(Instantaneously, the cheat put a stop to his game,
And ran tumbling out of the city,
He kept thinking in his mind,
That now there was no escape from the punishment of God.)
Such Hai Sai Jaisa Daani,
Mil Na Sakega Jag Main,
Ansh Iish Ka Sai Baba,
Unhe Na Kuch Bhi Mushkil Jag Main.
(It is true that a donor like Sai Baba,
Cannot be found anywhere in the world,
When Sai Baba is a part of someone,
There is nothing in the universe that is tough for him.)
Sneh, Sheel, Sojanya,
Aadi Ka Abhushan Dharan Kar,
Badhta Iss Duniya Main Jo Bhi,
Manav Seva Ke Path Par.
(Affection, humility, kindness,
etc. when worn by one,
Who then tries to make progress in this world,
On the path of service to humanity.)
Vahi Jeet Leta Hai Jagti,
Ke Jan Jan Ka Anthsthal,
Uski Ek Udasi Hi,
Jag Ko Kar Deti Hai Vivhal.
(He is the one who wins over the world,
And rules on the souls of all beings
One small hint of his sadness itself,
Cripples the entire world.)
Jab Jab Jag Main Bhaar Paap Ka,
Badh Badh Hi Jaata Hai,
Usse Mita Ne Ke Hi Khatir,
Avtari Ho Aata Hai.
(Whenever the weight of sins in this world,
Increases beyond bearable limits,
With the purpose of destroying those sins,
Comes an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.)
Paap Aur Anyaya Sabhi Kuch,
Iss Jagti Ka Har Ke,
Duur Bhaga Deta Duniya Ke,
Danav Ko Kshan Bhar Main.
(All sins and injustice,
Of this world are dissolved by him.
And forced to run away from his presence,
Are all the world’s demons in an instant.)
Sneh Sudha Ki Dhar Barasne,
Lagti Hai Duniya Main,
Gale Paraspar Milne Lagte,
Jan Jan Hai Aapas Main.
(Showers of love and the nectar of Gods,
Starts falling upon this world,
People start embracing each other,
In large crowds amongst themselves.)
Aise Hee Avtari Sai,
Mrityulok Main Aakar,
Samta Ka Yah Paath Padhaya,
Sabko Apna Aap Mitakar.
(This is the kind of incarnation that Sai is,
Who took birth in this world,
And taught this lesson of peaceful co-existence and equality,
To all without consideration to one’s selfishness.)
Naam Dwarka Masjid Ka,
Rakha Shirdi Main Sai Ne,
Daap Taap, Suntaap Mitaya,
Jo Kuch Aaya Sai Ne.
(A mosque was named Dwarka (birthplace of Lord Krishna),
By Sai Baba in the city of Shirdi,
He erased anger, sickness, troubles,
And any other kind of adversity.)
Sada Yaad Main Mast Ram Ki,
Baithe Rehte The Sai,
Peher Aath Hi Raam Naam Ko,
Bhajte Rehte The Sai.
(With beautiful thoughts and memories of Lord Rama,
Sai Baba used to constantly sit in meditation,
And through all the eight phases of a day, Lord Rama’s name,
Was all that he would keep chanting.)
Sookhi Rookhi Taazi Baasi,
Chahe Ya Hovai Pakvaan,
Sada Pyar Ke Bhooke Sai Ke,
Khatir The Sabhi Samaan.
(Dried, wrinkled, fresh or stale,
Whatever state that food was in,
Sai Baba was forever hungry for love,
And considered it all to be equally good.)
Sneh Aur Shradhha Se Apni,
Jan Jo Kuch De Jaate The,
Bade Chaav Se Uss Bhojan Ko,
Baba Paavan Karte The.
(With their love and devotion,
Whatever it is that devotees used to give away,
Baba used to enthusiastically have that food,
And make it blessed.)
Kabhi Kabhi Man Behlane Ko,
Baba Baag Main Jate The,
Pramudit Man Main Nirakh Prakriti,
Chatta Ko Ve Hote The.
(Sometimes just to calm his mind,
Baba used to go to the garden,
He felt pleased on observing nature,
And his face would glow with happiness as a result.)
Rang-Birange Pushpa Baag Ke,
Mand Mand Hil Dul Karke,
Bihad Virane Mann Mein Bhi,
Sneh Salil Bhar Jate The.
(The colorful flowers of the garden,
Used to shake in a trance,
And even a peaceful mind,
Used to be filled with streams of love as a result.)
Aise Samudhur Bela Main Bhi,
Dukh Aafat Vipada Kai Maare,
Apne Man Ki Vyatha Sunane,
Jan Rehte Baba Ko Ghere.
(Even in times like these,
Tortured by sadness, obstacles and troubles,
To tell Sai Baba about the pains that afflicted their minds,
People used to surround him.)
Sunkar Jinki Karun Katha Ko,
Nayan Kamal Bhar Aate The,
De Vibhuti Har Vyatha, Shanti,
Unke Uur Main Bhar Dete The.
(Whoever’s stories of pain and troubles
Filled his eyes with tears,
He would give them sacred ashes and taking away their pains,
Fill his hands with peace and calm.)
Jaane Kya Adhbut, Shakti,
Uss Vibhuti Main Hoti Thi,
Jo Dharan Karke Mastak Par,
Dukh Saara Har Leti Thi.
(One wonders what magical power,
Was contained in those ashes,
Which when applied on ones forehead,
Make all sadness disappear.)
Dhanya Manuja Veh Sakshaat Darshan,
Jo Baba Sai Ke Paye,
Dhanya Kamal Kar Unke Jinse,
Charan Kamal Veh Parsai.
(Blessed are the people who got to have a darshan,
Of Sai Baba in person,
Tremendously blessed are the people who,
Had the opportunity to touch Sai’s feet directly.)
Kaash Nirbhay Tumko Bhi,
Saakshat Sai Mil Jaata,
Barson Se Ujra Chaman Apna,
Phir Se Aaj Khil-Jata.
(You should wish fearless that you are also able to,
Obtain Sai Baba’s essence for yourself,
As a result the dried garden of your life,
Would once again blossom with crackling colors.)
Gar Pakar Main Charan Shri Ke,
Nahi Chodhta Umra Bhar,
Mana Leta Main Zaroor Unko,
Gar Rooth Te Sai Mujh Par!!
(I would hold the feet of Sai Baba,
And I would never let it go for my entire life,
I would have definitely been able to make him forgive me,
If ever Sai had been angered by my actions.)
